How do we ensure the lights stay on?

Energy is the ability to do work.
Mankinds neverending Quest for Energy.

Every day, our species chews its way through more than a million terajoules of energy. That’s roughly equivalent to what we would use if all 7.5 billion of us boiled 70 kettles of water an hour around the clock. Or 3,000 times the daily output of Palo Verde nuclear power station in Arizona – one of the world’s largest – running at full capacity.

With the global population swelling and industrialisation on the rise in developing nations, humanity’s hunger for energy has reached unprecedented levels. More than half of our energy comes from fossil fuels extracted from deep within the Earth’s crust. It is estimated that since commercial oil drilling began in the 1850s, we have sucked up more than 135 billion tonnes of crude oil to drive our cars, fuel our power stations and heat our homes. That figure increases every day.

But our gas guzzling over the past two centuries has taken a potentially devasting toll on the planet. Burning of coal, oil and gas has been inextricably linked to the rising levels of greenhouse gases in Earth’s atmosphere and is a leading contributor of climate change. The world’s scientists agree that we are on a path towards disaster that can only be stopped by weaning ourselves off our fossil fuel habit. But that leaves us with a problem. How do we ensure the lights stay on?

Clean Energy

"Renewable energy" is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.

"Clean energy" generates electricity from sustainable sources like wind, solar, and geothermal power with little or no pollution or global warming emissions.

"Dirty (sources of) energy" - Coal, natural gas, and oil.

Fossil fuels—coal, natural gas, and oil—produce most of our electricity but come with significant and harmful consequences. They produce the vast majority of global warming emissions. They release toxic chemicals that pollute our air and water. And they have adverse, and costly, effects on public health.

Controlled Nuclear Fusion

Limitless amount of fuel available, deuterium and tritium easy to produce. Fusion, unlike fission, does not involve a chain reaction, so the process can be stopped eliminating the risk of a meltdown. Fusion does not produce nuclear waste, only the core of the reactor remains radioactive and only for 100 years.

Free Energy [Nikola Tesla]

Tesla asserted that free energy is real. That alone would eliminate the need for cold fusion. Either way, both are extremely important.

In his masterful article The Problem of Increasing Human Energy, first published in Century Illustrated Magazine in June 1900, Tesla discusses the “energy situation” like never before. After discussing every known method of gathering energy from the Natural World, Tesla departs into the unknown. His first discussion is about a machine that can gather heat from the ambient air. He calls it a “Self-acting Engine” since it could run indefinitely from the solar energy stored in the air. He called it "the ideal way of obtaining motive power".

Tesla worked for years trying to solve all of the technical issues presented by the idea. His work with liquified air, his discovery of super-conductivity at ultra-low temperatures, his bladeless turbine and mechanical oscillator were all spin-offs from his work on the ambient air engine. He was convinced the system could work and that it was absolutely the best way to harness solar energy.

Cold Fusion - The Holy Grail of Energy

Cold fusion is a certain type of nuclear reaction that occurs at or near room temperature. In years past, it was studied as theoretical and hypothetical, but scientists all over the world have attested to the possibility, and possible reality of cold fusion and the tremendous implications it can have for clean energy generation. It is a form of energy generated when hydrogen interacts with various metals like nickel and palladium. It has been subject to a large amount of criticism and opposition.

Conspiracy Theory

Cold Fusion was announced in 1989. And was discarded as a Scientific Hoax and Pseudo-Science. Many scientists have confirmed its reality, and many remain very skeptical. "Cold fusion", like "Free energy" would eliminate the entire energy industry. No more oil, no more anything.

There is a lot, and we mean a LOT of discord in this field. All science is built upon differing opinions of theory, but there's none that run quite so deep as in the field of cold fusion.

Early Success

A few years ago, scientists led by Physics Professor Yoshiaki Arata of Osaka University in Japan claimed to have made a successful demonstration of cold fusion. The experiment was done in front of 60 onlookers, physicists and reporters from major newspapers and TV studious.

Italian scientists Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi of the University of Bologna announced that they have developed a cold fusion device capable of producing 12,400W of heat power with an input of just 400W and held a similar demonstration.

These are two examples of the many reported cases of cold fusion.

The Problem of Singular Theories and Models of The Universe

"Our current methods of Extracting Energy from the Universe are Extremely Elementary." - Founders, Automatski

"Our Model of Physics is very limiting. We need alternate models. Which Automatski has." - Founders, Automatski.

"A lot of our concepts are plain wrong. Today it is inevitable and logical to conclude that Matter doesn't exist, it is just energy localized and isolated in space and time. A lot of our concepts like Dark Energy, Dark Matter are plain simple wrong." - Founders, Automatski

"This world, earth, universe, you and I are basically just energy. Energy is around us every where. We just need to figure out ways of using that energy without putting in more energy than the useful energy we extract in the process. And we also have to make sure it doesn't hurt our habitat." - Founders, Automatski

Multi-Model Thinking

We live in a Universe which is mostly Unknown. We are attempting to make meaning of the secrets of the Universe by creating Theories and Models that explain it.

Evidence shows that people who think with models consistently outperform those who don't. And, moreover people who think with lots of models outperform people who use only one.

Scientific Progress

"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it." - Max Planck

"Science is not immune to interpersonal bullshit. Scientists can be stubborn. They can use their gravitas to steamroll new ideas. Which means those new ideas often only prevail when older scientists die." - Max Planck
